Dr. McLelland was raised in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Alberta in 1993. Dr. McLelland received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery with Distinction in 1995 from the University of Alberta and then completed a one-year hospital based General Practice Residency at Denver General Hospital in Denver,
Colorado.
Dr. McLelland began a four-year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in 1996. Dr. McLelland completed his training and Cook County Hospital in 2000. Since graduation, Dr. McLelland was in private practice at Western Illinois Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Galesburg, Illinois. Dr. McLelland is a Board Certified Surgeon and Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a Diplomat with the National Board of Dental Anesthesiology and a member of the Spokane District Dental Society and Washington State Dental Society. Dr. McLelland is also currently on staff at all major Spokane hospitals and medical centers for major surgery, trauma and reconstruction patients. Dr McLelland participates on the Cleft Lip and Palate Board at Eastern Washington University.
Dr. McLelland enjoys practicing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with special interests in dental implants, orthognathic surgery and trauma surgery. Dr. McLelland’s interest in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology led him to instruct a class in Oral Pathology for dental hygiene students at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois.
Dr. McLelland joined Spokane Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in March of 2003. He is seeing patients at the Spokane Valley Ambulatory Surgical Center and both satellite offices on the South Hill of Spokane and in Post Falls, Idaho.
Dr. McLelland is married to Krista, a pediatric ICU nurse, who is currently at home taking care of their two children, Kate, 9 and Addison, 7. The McLelland’s enjoy boating, snow skiing, hiking and mountain biking and are happy to be in the Pacific Northwest and Spokane for the many opportunities and high quality of life this area offers.
