Course Objective

 

This workshop series is designed to train you to communicate more effectively with your patients.  The objective of this program is to increase annual dental practice production through higher case acceptance.   Each module builds from the previous one.   To maximize the experience it is advised that all members of your team attend all three programs.

Course Overview

This presentation provides an overview of management recommendations for medical emergencies in the private dental offices.  The following specific types of emergencies and thier managment will be included:

  • Myocardial infaarction
  • Cardiac arrest
  • Shortness of breath
  • Asthma
  • Seizures
  • Drug related emergencies

      Healthcare Provider (BLS) CPR Training Program      Multiple Dates

  This CPR Training course meets current state requirements for dental health care professionals.  Course includes    

  1.5 hour instructional video, hands on training, and a 15 minute examination.  This course is approximately

  3 hours  long.  CPR cards will be processed and mailed to you approximately 4 weeks following the course date.

      OSHA/WISHA Update & Review                       December 4, 2009     April 16, 2010

This presentation reviews the current standards and recommendations for management of office OSHA/WISHA safety programs.  New recommendations, tuberculosis precautions and office tuberculosis management programs will be reviewed.  This presentation meets current recommendations for staff member’s annual review of OSHA/WISHA safety programs.

         Management of Medical Complexities                              February 17, 2010     May 12, 2010

    This course provides updates and review specific patient protocols for management of the medically complex patient.   Specific protocols and treatment recommendations reviewed will include the following: 

    • Management guidelines for patients taking Biphosphonates
    • Management guidelines for antibiotic prophylaxis; a review of the current AHA guidelines and other antibiotic prophylaxis recommendations for joint prosthetics, kidney dialysis, transplant patients, etc.   
    • Management guidelines for head and neck radiation patients
    • Management of guidelines for anticoagulant patients
    • Management of guidelines for pregnant patients, compromised cardiovascular patients, and for the Latex Allergy Patient.

     The NWFMRE is a non-profit (501-C) foundation dedicated to furthering research programs and the education and training of dental health care provider. The NWFMRE is a recognized program provider by the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and American Dental Association Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP)

     

    Since 1997, The Northwest Foundation for Maxillofacial Research & Education and Spokane Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery have awarded over $55,000 in scholorships to local students persuing higher education in a health care related field.   Membership dues from the Northwest Implant Study club, fees collected from continuing education courses and donations given to the foundation contribute to this cause allowing us to give back to our community.
